Hey, guess what, this doesn’t work. I have spent a couple nights trying to get my two Airport Express AP’s to participate in a WDS network. The Apple knowledge base article (#107454) says I can do it with two Airport Express AP’s (one as a main, and one as a relay or remote station), but it is my opinion that the dude or dudette who wrote this article may have a heroin addiction. If you know this person, I would consider some sort of intervention. From what I can gather, heroin can do a real number on your choppers (I may be thinking about meth here, but for now lets just go with heroin). I think this person may have authored the Airport Express FAQ as well. See the following question & response. ”
Question: Can AirPort Express be used for a Wireless Distribution System (WDS)? Answer: Yes. AirPort Express can be a WDS main, remote, or relay station. It can function as a WDS main whether or not you are using it as a router to share your Internet connection (NAT).“
Again, this person is on some type of schedule 2 narcotic.
Has anyone gotten this to work?
Internet <-> DSL <- (ethernet) -> FW <- (ethernet) -> Airport Express <- (wifi) -> Airport Express <- (ethernet) -> Mac Mini
I am basically using the 2nd Airport Express as a bridge to the 1st Airport Express. The Mac Mini I have didn’t come with a wifi card installed and therefore I am trying to use the ethernet port on the 2nd Airport Express to get to the Internet. If anyone, outside of the two junkies who wrote the documents referenced above, can provide some insight, please send it to me ‘at’ jackascii.net.
